Working on behalf of regional partners to engage the commercial real estate market, BetterBricks created the ‘Kilowatt Crackdown’ energy efficiency competition. The Kilowatt Crackdown challenges commercial building teams to reduce energy consumption over a calendar year and adopt energy management best practices as standard practice. BetterBricks delivered the program from 2007-2013 with industry partner Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), impacting more than thirty percent (30%) of commercial offices in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. The program produced more than eight average megawatts of total regional savings, while also supporting participation in utility programs and accelerating market change.
The Kilowatt Crackdown Implementation Manual provides an overview of the program for groups interested in launching a similar program along with two useful templates, Action Plan Template and Scoping Study Template.
